Shopping for groceries

June 17, 2009

We stopped the first day to get supplies and found the choices puzzling.  It’s amazing to see so little that seems familiar, except of course in the produce area.

They don’t have fat-free milk.  The eggs are sold in cartons of 10 not 12. The spaghetti package contained both the pasta and the fixings for the sauce. There was no bottled water. There is a local liquor, which we found quite nice, a little like gin but not as strong.

Karl is an extremely gracious host. He drove us to town to shop for groceries. At some point, I’ll get a better photo of him!
