Greven – The Augustine Connection

June 18, 2009

On our way to Damme, we decided to try to find the little town where some of our father’s ancestors reportedly lived – Greven. Marilyn found it on the map and directed us to the four roads that apparently constitute Greven. Imagine our surprise when we found the rock declaring we had arrived!

There isn’t much there. Just a few farmhouses and the fields.  (Marilyn continues to wonder about the tracks in the fields.  Why, she says, are they there. I reply that the farmer left the tracks when he moved the farm equipment from one side of the field to the other. Why, she says, did he do that. I reply, to get to the other side.)
